What is a team barometer?
A team barometer is designed to gauge the health of team dynamics, with a view to building team culture. This health check collects the views of everyone, offering them the opportunity to offer input and feel heard around the dynamics of the team.
Team dynamics are central to the dimensions of a team barometer. Dynamics are important for teams because they come together to achieve a shared goal. The delivery of that goal requires a healthy dynamic between team members because they are the unconscious factors that affect a team’s behavior, performance, and, therefore, success.
Understanding the core dimensions of a team barometer
The team barometer is built around seven dimensions that can be measured and tracked. This health check invites each member of the team to indicate how strongly they agree with seven key statements. The stronger they agree, the stronger the team dynamics.
A team leader can then see how the group feels and talk through what that means for the team. This can be especially helpful for remote teams who may not otherwise have the same opportunity to discuss these factors.
